Dr. Shankar Prinja

Dr. Shankar Prinja

Additional Professor of Health Economics at the Department of Community Medicine & School of Public Health, PGIMER, Chandigarh, India.
He is a medical doctor with specialization in community medicine/public health. Subsequently he is trained in health economics at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and London School of Economics.
His main research interests involve economic evaluation of health care interventions and programs, costing of health care services, and analyzing impact of health financing policies in the context of universal health coverage.
At the PGIMER Department of Community Medicine & School of Public Health, he has set up a Resource Centre for India’s Health Technology Assessment Board (HTAIn). He is member of several national task forces. He has authored around 200 research papers in leading national and international peer-reviewed scientific journals.


Dr. Francesco Paolucci

Dr. Francesco Paolucci

Professor of Health Economics & Policy at the Faculty of Business & Law, University of Newcastle, Australia and at the School of Economics & Management, University of Bologna, Italy.
Former Chief Advisor Health Reforms to Minister of Health in Chile, and member of Italian Technical Committee for Allocation of National Health Budget. He was Head of Health Policy at Sir Walter Murdoch of Public Policy and International Affairs, Murdoch University, Perth Australia.
Over the last decade has published in the areas of public policy, economics and management focussing on healthcare nationally and internationally. This includes one single-authored book and three edited issues in peer reviewed journals, over 55 academic peer-reviewed articles, book chapters and book reviews. Over 15 years of engagement in health economics, policy and management in various countries (Austria, Australia, Chile, China, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Qatar, South Africa, Spain, UK, USA).


Dr Lorna Guinness

Dr. Lorna Guinness

Senior health economist. She has worked in and with academic institutions (London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Imperial College, and Australian National University) and multiple international donor agencies.
Her work has focused on research and capacity building for health economics and health system strengthening in low- and middle-income countries, in particular India.
Her current research explores the role of costing in healthcare decision-making in India and she is an Honorary Lecturer at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine where she maintains an active teaching role.
She is co-editor of the Open University Press “Introduction to Health Economics” textbook.


Dr Miqdad Asaria

Dr. Miqdad Asaria

Health economist based at the London School of Economics and Political Science in the UK.
His work focuses on inequalities in health and healthcare and policies to tackle these inequalities.
He has worked closely with the Department of Health in the UK, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in India and the World Health Organization.
He employs methods from health econometrics, cost-effectiveness analysis and micro-simulation modelling in his research.
