The Department of Health Research (DHR) has established a Health Technology Assessment (HTA) mechanism to evaluate the appropriateness and cost-effectiveness of existing and new health technologies in the country, as part of its research governance mandate. Regional Resource Centres have been set up within government research institutes, tasked with conducting HTA and other multi-centric studies assigned by the HTAIn Secretariat.
DHR provides necessary manpower support to these Regional Resource Centres to bridge the gap between the Central and State Governments, assist in capacity building, and support nearby states with their allocated studies. The mentors of these centres work closely with state government officials, raising awareness about the importance of HTA for various health interventions.
To further build capacity, the HTA Resource Centre at PGI Chandigarh has developed a customized online course on Health Technology Assessment. This course is designed to meet the needs of Regional Resource Centres, offering both basic and advanced lectures.
